Examples of Data-to-Music
The Auditory Displays below relate to Heart Rate Variability and Heart Rate. The audio files, with musical characteristics, were created from data to music mapping algorithms I designed. You can use the algorithms at musicalgorithms.org.
In the first three examples, you will the same melody derived from data with slightly different accompaniments. The first example is the most simple, with two voices. The second example is slightly more complex with three voices. The third example explores the addition of more timbres. Goal: listen for tension in the music between markers 6.5 and 12.5. These are areas where the heart rate variability (HRV) is low and you would want to notice this moment of stress in the data. Can you hear the warning signs?
The fourth and fifth examples represent a trail runner's heart rate in a pure manner and as a song.
